In a report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), airline fees have spiked, rising by about 11% compared to November 2022 till November 2023. The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, in its transport cost report, revealed that the price of a flight in November 2022 was N73,270.27, about last November which was N81,334.05.
From the report, the regular price paid by a travelling passenger was N81,334.05, which reflected an upward turn of 3.25% when compared to October’s fees. The price rose by 11.02% when looked at on a year-to-year basis.
Some of the reasons for the hike include the lack of aviation fuel and subsequent increases in price, foreign exchange instability, and an influx of passengers travelling by air due to security condition.
