Indrive, one of the fastest-growing e-hailing apps in the world, beatsBoltt to be the most preferred App for Nigerian e-hailing drivers. This was revealed in a recent poll among e-hailing drivers operating under the country’s e-hailing drivers’ union, the Amalgamated Union of App-based Transporters of Nigeria (AUATON).
According to the result, InDrive Supercedes had forty-seven point four percent (47.4%) of the total votes, making it the most preferred app for drivers. Uber came second with thirty-one point five percent (31.5%), while Bolt emerge third with fifteen point eight percent (15.8%) of the total votes.
Unfortunately, Rida, a newly launched app, came last in the poll with five-point three percent (5.3%) of the total. Indrive, formerly known as Indriver, began operating in Lagos in August 2019 with a model allowing drivers and passengers to negotiate fares rather than a permanent pricing algorithm.
In the last five years, the company has modified algorithms and human interference, allowing drivers to set their prices and choose locations they wish to operate compared to other e-hailing apps like Uber and Bolt.
However, some drivers have condemned the “fastest finger” tagged software model introduced by the app, making drivers settle for a lesser price. In a random interview, one of the drivers said, “Indrive is a test of the true personality of drivers. Some drivers, small money are already shaking.”
Reacting to the poll result, Bolt unblocked hundreds of drivers that it had previously blocked in order to gain access to the automobile business marketplace. The results show that Bolt is two times less popular than Uber and three times less popular than InDrive. This is due to the dwindling popularity of its ‘acceptance rating’ system.
However, Bolt suspended its acceptance rating system after losing hundreds of drivers.
