A former chairperson of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Ifueko Okauru, has been appointed by PZ Cussions Nigeria Plc as the chairperson of its board.
In a statement by the company, it was noted that crucial appointments in its board have been confirmed after two high ranking personnel quit on the basis of retirement and resignation.
It revealed the retirement of Gbenga Oyebode as the non-executive Director Chairman of its board with its implementation from 25th of January.
Oyebode, according to the statement, has taken the place of Okauru whose incumbency was effective on the 25th of January after the confirmation of her appointment at a board meeting which was held following the yearly general meeting of the company on the same date.
Having joined the board in April 2021 as an independent non-executive Director, Okauru makes the first female chairperson of the company.
Her educational background:
She possesses a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School, MSc. in Management Science from Imperial College, London, in addition to a BSc degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos with a First Class.
Her experience over the years:
A trained Chartered Accountant, Strategy and Change Management Consultant with experience in both non-profit organisation and governmental sectors. She presided over Strategy Practice at Arthur Andersen & Co, where worked for over ten years.
Currently, she is among the members of the board of MTN Nigeria Plc and Nigeria Breweries Plc also a non-executive Director and on the board of AfyaCare Limited and ReStral Limited as a chairperson.
Okauru had worked as the chairperson of the Audit and Risk and Statutory Audit Committees and a member of the Governance and People Committee of PZ Cussions before her appointment.
She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Compliance Institute of Nigeria and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria while Oyebode is presently a chairperson for Okomu Oil and an independent non-executive Director at Nestle Nigeria.
