Telecom giant, Safaricom, has announced a lot of modifications in its high ranking leadership just a few days after assigning Adil Arshed Khawaja as the current Board Chairman.
The appointments goes as follows:
Chief Financial Services Officer given to Esther Masese, who is responsible for providing strategic leadership and supervision to the telecom’s Financial Services Business.
Masese was formerly the Director of Corporate Banking of KCB Bank since 2021 with financial sector experience of more than 15 years serving top banking sectors including Stanbic Bank where she served for ten years.
Prior to her appointment, Boniface Mungania was the holder of the position. He has been chosen as Director Public Sector Digital Transformation with the responsibility of creating partnership with government sector in pushing digital change.
The CEO of Safaricom, Peter Ndegwa, during his speech, declared his great appreciation of Mungania’s service over the Financial Services Team for over the last eight years. He noted the great improvement of Mungania during his tenure in the company’s Financial Services assignment, including giving regulatory permission for some of the company’s strategic inceptive, in addition to putting in operation plans such as M-PESA Go and assisting the government in starting the Hustler Fund.
Zizwe Awuor Vundla has been named Safaricom’s Director of Brand and Marketing. Previously, Vundla was Head of Marketing and Innovation at Diageo in South Africa from 2019. She has also served at Proctor and Gamble.
Ndegwa, while welcoming the recently named executives, noted their important roles in backing continuous delivery, strengthen accomplishment ambition and “build on the progress made so far through our agile transformation.”
