WhatsApp has announced that it is getting ready to roll out sharable Call Links features that will enable its users to share call links with loved ones and family to join the conversation.
While Call Links will be new to WhatsApp users, similar features have been long introduced and implemented in other messaging and conferencing apps like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and a few others, and it works quite well.
It is a new feature that permits you to authorize a scheduled call meeting and share the link to people you want to join the call.
Number of Permitted Users
The shareable call link permits up to 32 participants to join a call via the link at the same time. The link enables anyone on Whatsapp to join regardless of the individual being in your contact list.
Why Introduce Call Link
Call link is not a new innovation in today’s technological era, with other services or applications having used and engaged their users with it. However, Whatsapp has the interest of its users and user experience at heart, so it found it worth adding a call link, a new feature to its app.
In a statement by the Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, “Call Links are currently in the process of rolling out, and the rollout might take a few days – or even the entire week”.
Mark Zuckerberg announced via Facebook that WhatsApp’s developer team is currently working on a secure encrypted video call for up to 32 people, and a lot of juicy features are promised to be revealed soon.
Companion Mode for Android Users
Recently, companion Mode was introduced to users running the Android beta. This allows them to link an Android tablet to an existing account using a QR barcode. However, the present state of companion mode doesn’t permit linkage to a secondary smartphone.
