DANGOTE REFINERY TO SUPPLY FUEL TO 150,000 IPMAN STATIONS

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery will deliver fuel to around 150,000 retail outlets managed by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), following a meeting between refinery management and IPMAN executives.

IPMAN had a meeting with Dangote refinery management to discuss the supply of products to independent marketers. When reached on Friday evening to confirm the meeting, IPMAN President Abubakar Maigandi indicated that the association had finally met with the refinery’s management, and that the latter had promised to distribute products to IPMAN’s over 30,000 members.

This happened as it was revealed that the downstream oil sector regulator was currently inspecting the refinery’s refined goods before approving the facility to distribute fuel to the market. Seven major Nigerian oil marketers have registered with the refinery to lift and distribute refined petroleum products generated by the $20 billion plant.

According to the source, dealers affiliated with the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria indicated on Sunday that after the registration, they will begin distributing fuel produced at the plant after the commercial arrangements were worked out. The seven biggest marketers are: 11 Plc, Conoil Plc, Ardova Plc, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, OVH Energy Marketing Limited, Total Nigeria Plc, and NNPC Retail.

Similarly, the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria announced that PETROAN has engaged the management of the multibillion-dollar refinery to supply products from the plant. On January 12, 2024, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced that it had begun production of Automotive Gas Oil (commonly known as diesel) and JetA1, generally known as aviation fuel.

During a chat with our correspondent on Friday, the association’s president commented on the outcome of the meeting between IPMAN and the Dangote refinery, saying the plant’s management will provide supplies to the 150,000 stations of the Independent Petrol Marketers of Nigeria.

“The meeting went well, so we are simply waiting for their response in terms of the things that they would give us. “They have agreed to distribute products to IPMAN members,” Maigandi said. When asked how many oil marketers are members of IPMAN, he said, “We have 30,000 members according to our most recent census, which was conducted two years ago.

The Dangote refinery in Lagos has so far received six million barrels of crude oil at its two SPMs, which are 25 kilometers from the beach. The first crude delivery occurred on December 12, 2023, and the sixth shipment was delivered on January 8th 2024.

“The refinery design complies with the World Bank, US EPA, European emission norms, and Department of Petroleum Resources emission/effluent norms, employing state-of-the-art technology,” the business said in a press release.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemical Project, a Dangote Industries Limited subsidiary, is a crude oil refinery that produces 650,000 barrels per day. It is located in Dangote Industries Free Zone, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is an industrial facility that converts crude oil into various petroleum products, including diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, and kerosene.
