9MOBILE GETS NEW CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

9mobile has named John Vasikaran as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). He has over 20 years of experience in the African telecoms business.

As COO, he will be responsible for providing strategic direction for operations covering Technical, IT, Sales, Commercial Planning, Customer Care, Marketing Communications, and PMO, all in accordance with EMTS’ strategic vision and current industry trends.

He was previously the Director of Business Development and Sales for Ribbon Communications. Speaking on Vasikaran’s appointment, 9mobile’s CEO said: “We are thrilled to have Vasikaran join the 9mobile family. His considerable expertise, particularly in Nigeria and Africa, qualifies him as the appropriate leader to guide our activities in accordance with current industry trends and our strategic goal.”

With his addition, 9mobile will continue to provide world-class services to their consumers. In response, the newly appointed COO expressed his gratitude to the company, adding that he is determined to use his years of experience to nurture the telecom company’s development and expansion.

He stated, “I am overjoyed to be a part of 9mobile. I look forward to working with the team to maintain the company’s position as a leading telecommunications provider in Nigeria, as well as to find new ways to drive growth and meet our customers’ changing needs while remaining at the forefront of technological advancements in the telecommunications sector.”

John Vasikaran has held a different positions and gained valuable knowledge in the telecoms business. Before joining Ribbon Communications, he served at Sofixtech.

Prior to joining Sofixtech, John worked at Globacom as the Chief Commercial Officer and then as the Chief Operating Officer. John was also the CEO of Cellcom Guinea and Orange Now in Liberia.

John also served as Merka’s CEO of Africa, Conoil Plc’s Managing Director, and Globacom’s Commercial Director. Be began work with BPL Cellular as a Deputy Manager.

John has  Master’s degree in Business Analytics with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from Harvard Business School in the United States.

He also holds a Master of Business Administration with a dual focus on Finance and Marketing, a Master of Social Sciences in Industrial Psychology, and a Bachelor of Commerce, all from Loyola College in Chennai, India.
