One of the premier bank in West Africa, FirstBank, is set to partner with the Lagos State government to develop Infrastructure.
FirstBank, which was established in 1894 and since gone on to provide banking services to Nigerians and West Africa at large, has now decided to boost its image with the plan of developing infrastructure in collaboration with the Lagos State government.
The decision to partner with the Lagos State government was made known by The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank, Olusegun Alebiosu, who set out with some members of the bank to visit the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday.
Elaborating on his courtesy visit to the governor, The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank, Olusegun Alebiosu highlighted the importance of Infrastructure, especially in the area of power.
He stated that Lagos State which is the Centre of Excellence is greatly admired by many individuals from all walks of life, both citizens and foreigners and this has influenced the decision of FirstBank to map out their plans to aid in developing power infrastructure for the further growth of the state.
Speaking further, Alebiosu stated that it is now in the hands of the Lagos State government to initiate and formulate its plans, so as to gather their strength, coupled with other investors who are ready to aid in the infrastructural development.
He further emphasized the willingness and commitment of FirstBank to go all out in supporting the Lagos State government in any project they plan to emabark on to improve the development of the state, citing how it would not just benefit the Lagos State government alone, but also provide numerous benefits such as; employment, and revenue generation which would greatly help Nigeria at large.
Governor Sanwo-Olu was impressed with the bank’s decision to support the government in the area of infrastructural development, stating that the state government would continue to foster its relationship with various financial institutions, especially the FirstBank, who have the plan of the masses in mind.
Speaking further, he revealed that the relationship of the state government with FirstBank has been overly beneficial in many years and it has succeeded in ensuring the continuous improvement that the state has been seeing in recent times.
The Governor reiterated that the Lagos State government sees its mutual cooperation with FirstBank as a lot of benefits on the state infrastructure and plans to continue to foster its relationship by making sure the state government and the bank continue to benefit from each other.
