The world’s richest man and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk took to his Twitter page yesterday to post a picture of himself entering Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters with a kitchen sink in his hand as he closes his $44bn deal on Twitter acquisition.
About the report
As the deadline to finalize his decision on the $44bn purchase of twitter approaches, Elon Musk shared a post on his Twitter page around 7:45 pm yesterday carrying a kitchen sink in the lobby of Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters building and tweeted “let that sink in!”.
He also tweeted “The beautiful thing about Twitter is how it empowers citizen journalism- people are able to disseminate news without an establishment bias”.
Though the business tycoon tried to back out of his deal to buy Twitter and the company filed a lawsuit against him, Elon Musk resuscitated his takeover plan as agreed upon on the condition that legal proceedings were paused and the court ordered that deal be closed by Friday, 28th of October.
More on the report
During a recent Tesla earnings call, the business tycoon said “ I am excited about the Twitter situation”. He added “I think it’s an asset that has just sort of languished for a long time but has incredible potential, although obviously myself and the other investors are overpaying for Twitter right now” and other investors expressed their opinions that the takeover would take place especially as Elon was seen as offering a huge price for a firm struggling to attract users and grow.
Also, the business tycoon has reportedly told bankers financing the deal his intention to cut down on staff levels at the company to around 75percent and plan to clean up spam accounts on the platform and give freedom of free speech on the forum. As his plan to change twitter to “X” an app for everything and everyone, he is meant to be addressing all Twitter’s workers this Friday.
