The first batch of crude oil to be refined at the Dangote refinery will arrive in June. The first batch to be processed will be 500,000 barrels while an increase to up to 65,000 will be produced by the refinery in 2024.
The facility which is owned by Nigeria’s business tycoon, Aliko Dangote will be commissioned on the 22nd of May 2023 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to information released by the representative of the company, the majority of the crude oil would be from Nigeria. Polypropylene, diesel, and petrol are some of the products that will be manufactured in the facility.
The refinery will see the rise of petrol exportation to 249,000 barrels per day from near zero barrels per day by 2026 and is expected to surpass 300,000 barrels daily by 2033. With the establishment of the refinery, a certain level of stability in crude oil production is expected over the next decade at almost 1.3 million barrels per day.
Meanwhile, Aliko Dangote, in an interview has told Nigerians to expect lots of benefits from the refinery. This opportunity include jobs, a halt of fuel scarcity, reduction in fuel importation amongst others and it will surely impact the economy positively.
