The Nigerian start-up, Klas, recently put together a whopping $1m pre-seeding funding, primarily headed by Increment Capital Inc., together with partners like Techstars and Hoaq.
The cofounder, Nathan Nwachukwu founded the startup at 18 years. On the platform, users can embark on online schools, write ebooks and courses and also conduct, l-time, classes with students. On launching, the startup gained about 2,000 creators and users. Presently, the platform hosts about 5,000 creators who teach 300,000 students across 30 countries.
Along with co-founder, Lekan Adejumo, Klas was able to get funds from angel investors totalling about $130,000. Notable people who bought into the start-up include Tola Adesanmi of Spleet, Odunayo Eweniyi, the co-founder of Piggyvest, and Nadayar Enegesi, the co-founder and CEO of Eden Life.
With this latest development in getting the extra funding, Klas intends to expand its services into the subcontinent of India and North America, places where the expected growth of online teaching is projected to boom in the coming years.
