GOOGLE APPOINTS ALEX OKOSI AS MANAGING DIRECTOR FOR AFRICA OPERATIONS

In a recent announcement, Google has revealed its selection of Alex Okosi, a Nigerian-born professional who currently serves as the Managing Director for YouTube in EMEA Emerging Markets, as the new Managing Director for Google in Africa. Okosi’s new role will encompass the oversight of Google’s operations in Africa, with a special emphasis on fostering economic growth, expanding internet access, and providing essential tools to empower users across the continent.

During his tenure at YouTube, Okosi played a pivotal role in advancing the platform’s presence across Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey. Notably, he was instrumental in securing YouTube’s $100 million Black Voice Fund in EMEA and co-launched the annual Africa Day Benefit Concert in partnership with actor Idris Elba. Additionally, Okosi served as an executive member of Google and YouTube committees responsible for driving and delivering the companies’ commitments to racial equity throughout the EMEA region.
