NIGERIA TO GET INVESTMENTS FROM CHINA, MEXICO, INDIA AND INDONESIA

Four countries have pledged continued investment in the Nigeria’s economy through their embassies. These countries are China, India, Mexico, and Indonesia. This was revealed by the delegates at the International Business Conference and Expo 2023, themed “Invest Nigeria” hosted by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Jian Chun, the Chinese ambassador, said his government is working on expanding its relations with the country by investing in viable and lasting projects. The ambassador said he is happy such investments are already happening with the likes of Huawei who have integrated themselves into the country through well-thought-out investments.

His Indian counterpart, Shri Balasubramanian, said investments from his country in the sum of $19 billion over the last 40 years across the pharmaceutical, food, and manufacturing industries; quoting “So, there have been a lot of investments, a lot of projects in Nigeria in the last four decades.”

He further explained that his country is now looking at moving into the renewable energy sector due to technological advancement and demands.

On the part of Indonesia, their ambassador, Usra Haraahap said his country is looking at expanding its relations with Nigeria. He explained that Nigeria is Indonesia’s tactical partner in Africa.

Mexico’s ambassador to Nigeria, Alfredo Miranda, also added that his country is looking at deepening its commercial partnership with Nigeria.

Michael Olawale-Cole, President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed delight at the fact that the seminar created an avenue for discussions about the country’s economy and revealed the sectors and industries which needs funding.

Gboyega Shoyanwo concluded by saying, that “for continuous development to thrive, a spirited environment, ripe for investment is required.” Mr. Gboyega Shoyanwo who is the Lagos State Deputy Chief of Staff was representing the Lagos State Governor.
