NIGERIAN POWER SECTOR TO GET BOOST AS DANGOTE’S REFINERY WILL GENERATE 12,000 MEGAWATTS OF ELECTRICITY

The Nigerian power sector will be getting a boost in its quest for uninterrupted power supply to the citizens as the newly inaugurated Dangote Refinery will assist in generating electricity for the country.

The CBN Governor; Godwin Emefiele, during the inauguration ceremony yesterday said the Refinery is expected to generate 12,000 megawatts of electrical power. This will create job opportunities for many Nigerians.

Apart from reaching a significant landmark of producing 650,000 barrels per day and generating Electric Power, the refinery will annually provide an inflow of up to $10 billion and save the country about $25 to $30 billion in forex.

The Governor was proud to say that this shows the country has the capability of producing or generating whatever is needed in improving the economic and financial development of Nigeria.

This development has come at a time when the citizens are expecting the government not to remove fuel subsidy price. Additionally, the country, in the past has been plagued with epileptic power supply; the establishment of Dangote’s refinery is expected to put a halt to these problems.
