The Sterling One Foundation and the United Nations Nigeria, co-conveners of the Africa Social Impact Summit 2023, have formally announced partners for the second edition of the summit.The organisers indicated during a news conference in Lagos that the events will take place in August.
The Africa Social Impact Summit, now in its second year, “will bring together thought leaders, impact investors, and stakeholders from diverse sectors to address pressing challenges and design market-led solutions for sustainable outcomes in Africa,” according to the statement.
The summit, themed ‘Global vision, local action: Repositioning the African development ecosystem for sustainable outcomes,’ aimed to alter Africa’s development landscape by encouraging collaboration, innovative thinking, and impactful investment in critical areas.
Mr Matthias Schmale, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, emphasized the UN’s commitment to collaborating with the private sector and government to create a framework for sustainable development cooperation.
He emphasized the importance of the private sector going beyond corporate social responsibility in their business models “We want to see all stakeholders, particularly the private sector, use the Africa Social Impact Summit as an opportunity to work together to develop an SDG rescue plan,” he said.
Mrs Olapeju Ibekwe, Chief Executive Officer of the Sterling One Foundation, said during the unveiling of the partners for the Africa Social Impact Summit 2023, “The African continent needs every impact resource and every player focused on how we can move from just potential, and that is what each of us here has committed to, and I cannot express just how excited I am to see the number of partners we have brought to the table from what we had last year; this shows that the message is getting through.”
