The Africa’s Business Heroes 2023, has nominated Dr. Funmi Adewara, founder and chief executive officer of Mobihealth International, for the prestigious award.
The Jack Ma Foundation initiative award was fashioned to recognize, assist and encourage the new set of African entrepreneurs that were making waves in their local areas, addressing challenges being faced, and creating a future of economic continuity and inclusion.
The foundation chooses 10 business heroes in Africa each year to challenge for the $1.5 million fund.
Africa’s Business Heroes quoted, “Every year, 10 finalists will be selected to compete in the ABH grand finale pitch competition and participate in a TV Show that will be broadcast online and across the continent. The finalists compete for a share of $1.5m in grant money.” They further mentioned that for the year 2023, Dr. Adewara’s effort has been outstanding amongst its group.
They went on to praise the Dr.’s company saying, “Mobihealth is a multi-award winning integrated digital health company leveraging technology to improve access to healthcare by harnessing the global medical expert pool to bridge human capital shortages.
“Users have convenient 24/7 access to multi-lingual medical experts in Nigeria, Africa, and globally for consultations, prescriptions and medications, diagnostics, health education, and home health services.”
About 27,000 applications were sent from the continent regarding the category in which Dr. Adewara emerged as one of the 4 women who made the top 20 list and one of the 3 startups from the country.
Other distinguished Nigerians on the list as stated by the foundation were, Bryan Mezue from Lifestores Healthcare and Ikpeme Neto from Wellahealth Technologies.
