UBA RECEIVES SEVERAL AWARDS

United Bank for Africa Plc, Africa’s Global Bank, claims that it has maintained its high profile internationally and won multiple major international accolades, demonstrating the Bank’s ongoing support of the continent’s economic growth.

The bank said in a statement that being recognized for its exceptional performance confirmed its position as a major participant in the financial sector, providing crucial project financing, financial intermediation, trade facilitation, and consulting services throughout Africa and beyond.

In Nigeria, Ghana, and Mozambique, UBA was named Global Finance’s Best SME Bank for 2023. These accolades highlight the bank’s unwavering commitment to helping small and medium-sized enterprises, which are essential to the expansion of any economy.

Additionally, the bank—which has operations in 20 African nations—won the FMDQ Gold Awards in three important categories in 2023: dealing member of the year, FX market liquidity provider, and money market liquidity provider. In addition, UBA was recognized as Senegal’s Safest Bank by Global Finance in 2023.

“This recognition is a testament to UBA’s impressive capital strength and capacity to provide liquidity to African financial markets even in the face of harsh economic realities,” stated Group Chairman Mr. Tony O. Elumelu in response to the FMDQ Group Awards. “Our market knowledge, dedication to customer services, and our clients’ trust” are other factors.

Moving further on the international stage, UBA Ghana won three World Business Outlook Awards in 2023: Best Banking Services Provider (2023), Leading Financial Services Institutions (2023), and Banking CEO of the Year (2023), which was taken home by Mr. Chris Ofikulu, the company’s CEO at the time.

Oliver Alawuba, the Group Managing Director of UBA, accepted the awards on the bank’s behalf. He expressed his gratitude and excitement for the recognitions, stating that they provide comfort that the bank is making progress toward its objective of solidifying its leadership position in Africa while continuing to generate exceptional value for its stakeholders.

“UBA is honored to have won the overall Award for Africa and to be recognized as the Bank of the Year in these eight nations. This success is a result of the UBA team’s collective hard work, devotion, and inventive spirit. We are still dedicated to providing our clients around the continent with excellent financial services that make a positive difference in their lives.

“UBA has outperformed its competitors to win the Bank of the Year title for Africa for the third time in five years, despite intense rivalry among the continent’s leading banking firms this year. Best wishes. The bank’s success throughout Africa, including many of its most competitive regions, is acknowledged by the prize, according to Macknight.
