Kenyan National Assembly Majority Leader, Kimani Ichungwah, held a productive meeting with German Ambassador Sebastian Groth at the parliament. They discussed collaboration between the two nations, focusing on Kenya’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centers, agriculture, and political stability.
A key topic was enhancing Kenya’s TVET centers to meet Germany’s need for 400,000 skilled laborers annually. 60 TVET centers will be upgraded to align their curriculum with German industry needs. Teaching the German language will also be prioritized for better integration into the workforce.
Kenya is one of six countries Germany is considering for skilled labor collaboration. This partnership benefits both nations, addressing unemployment in Kenya and meeting Germany’s labor demands.
Leaders also talked about boosting value addition in coffee, tea, and dairy sectors, aiming to process and refine products locally for higher export value and more jobs.
Ambassador Groth highlighted stable political ties as crucial for diplomatic relations, emphasizing Germany’s interest in Kenya’s stability. This shared value is expected to lead to increased cooperation in trade, education, and technology.
