META EXPANDS AI SERVICES TO NIGERIA AND 11 OTHERS

Meta, the giant tech company behind Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, has announced the expansion of its AI services, tagged as “Meta AI,” to 12 countries, including Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Zambia, Canada, Australia, Malawi, and others outside the United States.

The Meta AI services expansion aims to majorly boost and equip users with up-to-date expressive and productivity tools in the above-listed social media platforms. 

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, Meta released a statement via a blog post that Meta AI has evolved since its unveiling in the previous year’s Connect event into a multifaceted and diverse tool that has seamlessly integrated into the daily lives of its users.

A portion of the statement read, “We’re rolling out Meta AI in English in more than a dozen countries outside of the US. Now, people will have access to Meta AI in Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe—and we’re just getting started.

Furthermore, Meta AI assists its users in accomplishing tasks, gaining knowledge, and promoting creativity with ease.

Giving credit to Meta Llama 3, the advanced and improved Meta AI is said to be smarter, faster, and more fun than ever.

The founder of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, said, “With our expansion of Meta AI in English to new countries, we are excited to share our next-generation assistant with even more people and make it work for you by providing real-time information through our seamless search integration in the apps you know and love.”

The free, most intelligent AI assistant infused in feeds, chats, searches, and more across our apps can now assist users derived real-time results and information without leaving the app.

Meta has also aided users with power to animates photos, generate high quality images. However, expert expressed their dissatisfaction on AI highlighting it side effects which include lack of transparency, bias and discrimination, privacy concerns, and many others.
