MULTICHOICE RAISES DSTV AND GOTV SUBSCRIPTION PRICES BY 19% IN NIGERIA AMID ECONOMIC STRUGGLES

The Pay-TV provider, Multichoice Nigeria, is set to implement a second price increase for its DStv and GOtv packages in 2023, with a notable rise of approximately 19%. The first price adjustment came into effect on May 1, 2023, and this latest increase is scheduled to commence on Monday, November 6.

In May, the increase varied from 16.3% to 18%, depending on the specific package, while this time, it’s a 19% to 20% increase across all subscription offerings. According to the notice sent to DStv subscribers, the monthly subscription fee for the DStv Premium package will rise to N29,500, starting from November 6, marking a 20% increase from the current N24,500.

Likewise, the Compact+ package will experience a 19% increase, with the monthly cost increasing to N19,800 from N16,600. Subscribers to the Compact package will now pay N12,500 per month, indicating a 19% increase from their current fee of N10,500.

Customers on the Confam package will witness a 19% increase in their monthly charges, which will be adjusted to N7,400, up from the previous N6,200. Viewers subscribing to the DStv Yanga package will confront a 20% increase in their monthly subscription, making it N4,200 compared to the prior N3,500.

Subscribers to the Supa Plus package will experience a 19% rise in their monthly fees, transitioning from N10,500 to N12,500. For the Supa package, the monthly fee will increase to N7,600 from N6,400.

GOtv Max subscribers will see their monthly fee increase to N5,700, up from N4,850, and those on the Jolli package will face a price increase, with the monthly charge rising to N3,950 from N3,300. Customers on the Jinja package will now be paying N2,700 per month, a change from their previous fee of N2,250.
