TECH4DEV’S TATRIX PLANS TO EMPLOY 100,000 AFRICANS BY 2030

Tech4Dev has introduced Taltrix, a social enterprise focusing on business process outsourcing (BPO), aiming to become Africa’s largest outsourcing company by 2030. The goal is to hire 100,000 young Africans within the next seven years. The BPO initiative, launched in partnership with Impact Hub Lagos and University and supported by Microsoft Nigeria, saw the participation of representatives from Microsoft, Meta, and American Tower Corporation in Nigeria, along with the Ondo State Information Technology Agency.

CEO Joel Ogunsola envisions employing 100,000 people directly over seven years, starting in Nigeria and expanding across the continent. Ogunsola believes that Africa’s outsourcing sector could grow into a $200 billion industry. Ogunsola cited Nigeria’s youthful, sizable, and dynamic population, alongside its flourishing technology and creative environment, as key factors supporting the BPO industry. Moreover, he highlighted the government’s commitment to outsourcing, which aligns with Taltrix’s vision.

According to Ogunsola, various factors currently favour outsourcing in Africa, including multinational companies seeking cost-effective options for their tasks. The new administration’s pledge to create one million jobs through outsourcing aligns with Taltrix’s goals. Oladiwura Oladepo, Executive Director of Tech4Dev, emphasized Taltrix’s potential to drive economic growth by investing in human capital development to address unemployment and underemployment, fostering a brighter future for Africa.

Moreover, Mrs Solape Hammond, CEO of Impact Hub Lagos, noted Taltrix’s potential to tackle internal migration challenges in Nigeria by providing infrastructure like power and internet access, aiming to empower local communities and reduce urban migration among young Nigerians.
